Directly in the village, near the local lighthouse, you will find old Roman excavations, which are witnesses of the former settlement Calviculum. The neighboring town of Nerja attracts with its nationally known stalactite cave, where you can be enchanted by the fairy-tale stone formations on hot summer days. Culinary discoveries can be made in the town of El Borge, which is home to the Muscat raisin, a local specialty. In addition, it is recommended to visit the town of Cómpeta, where one of the most famous wines of the region is produced, the sweet muscat. Torrox is located at the foot of the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama. This mountain range represents the geological border between the provinces of Malaga and Granda, and is known for its wealth of flora and fauna. In particular, the extensive pine forests are home to numerous species of birds and the largest population of ibex in Spain. With luck, even a golden eagle can be observed in majestic flight over the sierra. Melt and rain water flowing down through the sierra forms impressive waterfalls, such as Los Árboles Petrificados. Hiking trails and spectacular views down to the Mediterranean Sea, complete a trip to the Sierra.
